Toilet Buying Guide

What are the four types of toilets?

Commercial restrooms typically include four different types of toilet pans and cistern arrangements, each with its own set of applications and settings.

  • Low-level toilet – The cistern is mounted on the wall directly above the pan, with a short plastic line connecting it to the toilet. The toilet is flushed by pressing a lever handle or a push button on the cistern.
  • Close-coupled toilet – The cistern is positioned on the back of the toilet pan and is flushed using a handle or push button on the cistern. When compared to low-level systems, close-coupled pans can project further out from the wall.
  • Back-to-wall toilet – The concealed cistern is hidden behind a panel or wall to hide the cistern and waste pipes. The toilet is mounted on the floor and placed against a panel or wall. To activate the concealed cistern, the toilet can be flushed using a sensor flush kit, a lever flush, or a push-button flush, all of which can be located through the IPS panel or wall.
  • Wall-hung toilet – The cistern is concealed behind a panel or wall that conceals the cistern and waste pipes. The toilet is flush to a panel or wall and suspended clear of the floor using metal braces. Wall-hung pans add a contemporary touch to a high-end restroom.

Which toilets are easiest to clean?

Buying a new toilet for your home is no laughing matter, given how much use it will receive and how disastrous the consequences may be if something goes wrong. A toilet with insufficient flushing power may clog frequently, causing havoc on your home’s plumbing. Some are prone to ugly stains, while others are so noisy while flushing that if you go in the middle of the night, you risk waking the entire household.

To answer the question of which toilets are the simplest to clean, one-piece, wall-hung toilets are the clear victor since they have a sleeker profile and fewer crevices than two-piece, traditional toilets, for example, make them considerably easier to clean. If you take care of them, toilets will last for a very long time.

What is chair height vs comfort height in toilets?

The height of the toilet is measured from the bottom to the top of the seat. Height differences are evident. They typically range from 15″ and 19″, with conventional toilets falling under 17″. Toilets with a minimum height of 17 inches are referred to as chair height, whereas normal height toilets measure 15 to 16 inches from the floor to the top of the seat. Chair heights are generally intended for tall persons and those with mobility challenges, whereas normal heights are intended for short people and children.

What is the best height for a toilet?

You may not realize it, but there is a toilet just suitable for you. An Adelaide plumber would advise that your toilet be tall enough so that you can easily sit and stand. While seated, both of your feet should be comfortably resting on the floor.

The appropriate height for your toilet will be determined by three elements, therefore make your decision based on these:

  • Your height
  • Your physical requirements
  • The required manner you need to get on and off the toilet (if applicable)

Recommended Height

Today’s “comfort height” or “proper height” toilets have bowls that are 17 to 19 inches high, rather than the normal 15 inches of a standard toilet. The larger bowl height can be beneficial to the knees and back and can provide significant benefits to taller people, the elderly, and people with mobility issues—these toilets are quite popular and widely utilized. However, comfort height is not for everyone.

According to some health experts, the chair-like posture limits natural functioning. Additionally, if you’re short or have small children in your household, a right-height toilet may not be your best option. It is a good idea to sit on the type you are contemplating before purchasing it to ensure that it meets your needs. This differs from the “best height” in that the recommended height is the one that specialists like for you, albeit several considerations come into play.
